IA's leadership is pleased to announce that Tom Kasznia, AIA, LEED AP, has joined the firm as Managing Principal, and will serve as Managing Director of IA's Chicago Studio. Tom brings over 30 years of design excellence to the firm, having honed his expertise and skills as a passionate leader and mentor in the Chicago area, with a portfolio that includes work on award-winning, historic projects for notable Fortune 500 companies. Tom will succeed Carolyn Tucker, RID, in this role, who will be retiring at the end of this year. Carolyn leaves an inspiring legacy of landmark projects and a tremendous history of incredible client partnerships.
Tom will build on this legacy, drawing on his strong track record of successful design and delivery for clients such as ABC, Coca-Cola, Kohler, and Crate & Barrel. Formerly a Managing Principal at Perkins & Will’s Chicago studio, Tom is recognized for his ability to connect people and ideas. A collaborative visionary who thrives on exploration, innovation, and empowering others to succeed, Tom is committed to timeless design and community engagement.
His accomplishments include expanding vertical market portfolios, strengthening client relationships, and fostering meaningful connections that will advance IA's mission and impact. Tom’s work has been published in a range of notable media outlets, including Forbes, The Architect’s Newspaper, and ArchDaily. He has also participated as a panelist and juror for numerous renowned organizations, including the Urban Land Institute and the Chicago Architecture Center.
A lifelong Chicagoan, Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed architect as well as a LEED Accredited Professional. He maintains an active presence in the architecture and design community through his involvement with organizations such as City of Hope and Step Up for Kids. Tom serves on the Board of the Chicago Central Area Committee (CCAC), and is a Council Member for the Chicago Construction Real Estate Council.
