Compliance with Ease

(USE IT Act 2025): Making it Happen

Accurately gathering, analyzing, and evaluating workplace metrics, comparing the results against what needs to be achieved, and planning a transition to realize required performance targets is always challenging. When millions of square feet and thousands of employees are affected, the effort may seem almost Promethean, although in reality, when approached in a straightforward, linear fashion supported by the right technology, it is quite simple. And when coupled with the required subject matter expertise, the outcome will become the roadmap for a seamless implementation process.

Responding to Executive Order M-25-25, Federal agencies are scrambling to monitor attendance and comply with a mandated 150 square feet per employee at 60% occupancy, report occupancy every two weeks, and annually report compliance by building and lease.

Interestingly and almost prophetic, a recent project for a Federal agency demonstrates the ease with which an organization can perform the required analysis and explore multiple options to achieve compliance goals. The project involved 1,400,000 square feet on 73 floors located in 13 buildings. In two weeks, IA analyzed the agency’s existing building-by-building situation and provided three tailored options, each delivering a roadmap for compliance based on solid data.

After tagging office and workstation types, the application of our software tool quickly tabulated key metrics by building, building region, or specific floors. Using that information, the team rapidly tested different theories, identified key impacts, and developed multiple scenarios aligned with compliance that allow for staff growth or reduction. The results were presented in user-friendly dashboards for decision makers to review and consider. We also benchmarked the agency’s current metrics against similar organizations for context.

With the right expertise and means, a task initially challenging was manageable and highly informative, leading to data-grounded options for achieving compliance goals.
