CIBC Bank of the Future
Yorkdale Mall Pilot Space
Toronto, ON
An experiential space brings CIBC's purpose to life
The CIBC Bank of the Future Pilot—inspired by the bank’s purpose "To help make your ambition a reality"—is an experiential space at the Yorkdale Mall that showcases the bank’s brand, engages with its clients in new ways, and tests new frontline tools and technology.
Dynamic design elements define an innovative and welcoming ambiance beginning at the mall-corridor entrance, where exterior signage displays a dimensional expression of the symbol of ambition used in CIBC branding as a neutral background for the bank’s name and logo.
The wide, branded portal below draws visitors into the space where the abstracted triangular geometry of a natural wood ceiling element floats above the space and is framed by long horizontal digital displays.
The flexible engagement and lounge area with reconfigurable casual seating and a multi-purpose bar greets consumers. Just beyond, is a radial-shaped, free-standing immersive theater activated by several ceiling-mounted projectors. When the theatre is opened and the bar swivels to one side, the space becomes a large event space when combined with the front lounge.
In addition to the immersive theatre experience, design features include a VR experience zone, large interactive touch screens, panelized wide-format OLED TV, and a free-standing transparent display for interactive kids coloring activities.
There are no standard offices, but glass-walled meeting rooms with display privacy film in the familiar brand patterning. The design of the new, inviting space inspires guests to explore their ambitions as well as the means to make them a reality through the bank’s many service offerings.
